Thoughts On The School Year Ahead
I start eleventh grade a week from today! I want to head into this school year depending on God. Trusting Him and casting all anxiety on Him (1 Peter 5:7). Leaning on His Spirit to help me with my work. Being excited and not worrying about the change of pace. Looking forward with a peaceful mindset.
I worry a lot and when we were preparing for this school year I was overthinking it and worrying about different things. My mom reminded me that I was making it into a bigger deal than it was and that I should chill about it. I didn't have to worry. I was making it a problem. In Philippians 4:6-7, God says:
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus
And in verse 11:
Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content.
Trusting God and leaving our worries at His feet takes practice. It takes perseverance and persistence in choosing to trust God instead of taking it into our own hands. I think it is always something we are working on because trusting God isn't natural for us. We have to choose it. We have to believe that His is good (Psalm 100:5) and is in control (Psalm 55:22) and has the best plan for us (Jeremiah 29:11). We have to keep choosing it, leaning into God, and letting His Spirit lead us and help us. Remember when we mess up because we are human, God gives us grace and mercy (2 Corinthians 12:9).
Let's choose to go into this school year not being anxious about anything but trusting that God is in control. Just keep choosing it. By prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God (Philippians 4:6b). Who's with me?
It's going to be a great year!
