He Is Good
Under the light stands the table, decorated with Thanksgiving delicacies. Turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans. The scent just enough to make your mouth water. I look from left to right and see my loved ones gathered around me, laughing and enjoying conversation. I hear the laughter and joy bubble from the hearts of the children playing nearby. Wonder strikes me. The God of the universe, who created humans, stars, the food in front of me, deserving all glory and praise, notices me and showers me with love, peace, and joy. He smiles down at me and holds me. The God of the universe. He is worthy, I am not. Yet even in my unworthiness, He is mindful of me. He knows me, cares for me, loves me. As I ponder this wonder, my heart feels like it could burst from the joy and peace rising. This life is more than my wildest dreams. This life is an adventure. I never could have imagined this beauty and wonder. He surprises me like that, showing me how wonderful He is and how He is always working for my good. How He writes the most beautiful stories all for my joy and His glory. I don't deserve His goodness, yet He showers me with it, like peaceful raindrops on a summer afternoon. As I pass the rolls, I think to myself, "He is good."
