Happy Friday! I hope you have had a wonderful week and have fun plans for the weekend. This weekend we have a birthday sleepover at our house tonight for my cousin and then my sister is getting confirmed on Sunday and we are celebrating Mother's Day! It will be fun and I am very excited.
001. I WANT A DOG
Yesterday my older brother went for a run and while he was running this dog started chasing him and followed him all the way home. It was a cute little beagle and it gave all of us dog fever. When Colin and I attempted to lead it back home, it would stop every five seconds and wouldn't listen when we called it. We eventually carried it to our car and drove it to its home. It was really a funny adventure. It made us all want a dog. I think we almost have our parents on board but I'll keep you updated:)
002. MATTHEW 11 : 28 - 30
I was really tired this week and wanted to read the Message version of Matthew 11:28-30 and it was so good. I am so thankful that in Jesus we have rest and that He loves us so much.
On that note, do you have things that you do that help you to rest and recharge? Recently I have gotten into the rhythm of Sabbath (which I have learned from Jess and Nick Connolly) and it has been so good. I will work every day on whatever I need to work on Monday thru Saturday, but on Sunday I don't work. I don't work out (I might take a walk but don't do an actual workout) or work on my blog stuff, I save Sunday for a time of rest where I can sit with Jesus and read or take a nap. It is so good for my soul.
In my 2017 goals, I said I wanted to read more. I started out strong reading a few books but then stopped for a few months because I couldn't find any books to read. After borrowing a book from the library, I read a few pages and realized that it wasn't going to work for me.
So during another visit to the library, I picked up three fiction books and one nonfiction. At my library, we have three weeks to read a book before it is due, so I came up with a goal. I decided to read one fiction book a week for three weeks and read the nonfiction book concurrently. I think I can do it if I just prioritize it. So far I'm off to a good start and WILL DO THIS! Haha.
004. WHAT YOU SEE WHEN YOU ARE WALKING
Last Saturday we had a picnic at Lake George and then walked around Munsinger gardens. A house near our car had all these Barbies set up on the front stoop. It was so cute.
005. JUST DO IT
I am a very organized person so I write to-do lists, goals and use a lot of post-its to help me stay on track and get things done. But one of the things that I have learned to help me stay focused and work hard is to just do it. I think that can apply to anything whether you are working, in school or working out. All we have to do is just do it. We just have to start working. I think Nike hit the head of the nail when they came up with their slogan!
What were your favorites from the week? Let me know in the comment section below! I hope you have a wonderful day and weekend and Happy Mother's Day to all the moms!
